The capital town of the border Mark of Loningia, confining directly with the Lafrancian borders of Garmandy. Ruled by the Adler dinasty of margraves, quickly became one of the epicenters of the religious quarrels of the Lafrancian borders when the margrave Stephan, loyal to the Emperor, decided to provide shelter to the heretical leader of the Calter movement Pierre Lapin after his flee from Lafrance and successfully resisted to the subsequent invasion of his territories by the Lafrancian papal coalition, winning the decisive battle of Metzingen.
